Tool-Assisted Manual Therapy (TAMT) is also known as instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). TAMT is a group of modern manual therapy techniques used to treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue abnormalities. These techniques are performed with ergonomically designed instruments that detect and treat fascial (connective tissue) restrictions to effectively break down soft tissue fibrosis. Soft tissue fibrosis is the formation of excess fibrous connective tissue (scar tissue) in an organ or tissue resulting from a reparative or reactive process to injury or other cause of soft tissue damage.
