Soft Tissue Mobilization (SSTM)

What is it?

This form of manual therapy is performed by your PT in order to promote proper movement patterns & healing, as well as reorient the soft tissue surrounding an injured area.

How does it work?

Soft tissue mobilization, or directed movement of soft tissue in the body, can be utilized to increase tolerance of demand as well as the management of dysfunction moreover. After an injury, your body may not only be intolerant to movement of specific joints, but the innate movement of the joint's adjacent muscles, tendons, or ligaments.

What's a good time to utilize SSTM?

This is generally a first line of treatment for strains, sprains, and general "overuse" injuries. Given the extent of seeing this in our practice here at Lodo PT, our therapists are well-versed in this type of treatment, and its appropriate introduction to your treatment.
